Owning your own business is an exciting prospect, particularly if you have never owned a business before, but we understand that it also raises a lot of questions. That’s why we’ve decided to answer some of the most common questions that we get asked about our franchise model, how we support our franchise owners, and what they need to get started, so read on for all the answers you’ve been looking for.

1. What Are The Payment Terms?

The initial investment to open a cleaning franchise through our franchise model is £3995 + VAT and this non -refundable lump sum covers everything you need to start your business.

This includes the license agreement, full training, an opening inventory of products and supplies, uniforms, access to our bespoke system and much more, and sponsorship may be available.

The remaining £6000 + VAT is due:

When you reach a turnover of £50,000
Or after 12 months

And this can be paid either as a lump sum or spread over 6 months.

2. How Much Working Capital Do I Need?

We currently recommend securing £5,000 of working capital over the first six months.

3. Is The Territory An Exclusive One?

The territory that you choose is exclusive to your cleaning franchise and has been set to allow you plenty of room to grow your business and your client base. Any modifications (reduction or modification of the territory) would be discussed by both sides on a case by case basis should the need arise.

4. Do I Need to Purchase Supplies from The Franchisors’ Approved Supplier?

We have trialled 4 or 5 suppliers over the years and have settled on our current supplier due to their consistent quality and affordability. They are linked into our system so you will be able to order stock directly through us and keep control over the amount of stock that you order.

However, you are free to make your own purchases and if you have a supplier that you would like to refer to us then we welcome this, but we would have to review some samples of their products first.

5. Do I Need to Participate Personally In The Business?

As a franchisee you are responsible for running your business to the best of your ability. This means managing your team, fostering customer relationships, and maintaining high standards, and you will never need to do any cleaning as an MCS Franchise owner.

Back office work including invoicing, wages, and employee contracts will also be undertaken by Head Office, freeing up even more time for you to spend on growing your business.

6. What Are The Operating Hours?

Office hours are generally 9 am – 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, but we offer part time and full time opportunities and your schedule can be as flexible as you need it to be.

The pace at which you seek to build your business will determine the hours that you invest into your business and you may also need to work outside of these hours depending upon the contracts that you have. For example, office cleaning services are often required before or after normal office hours, or on weekends.

7. What Happens At The End of The Franchise Contract?

You will have the option to:

Sign on for another 5 years
Sell the cleaning franchise to another party
Or sell the franchise back to MCS

You can also sell the franchised business at any time and assign the franchise agreement to the buyer, but we would have to be part of this process and approve the buyer before the sale can take place.
